Track Cycling Classes at Boulder Indoor Cycling

Get on track at Boulder Indoor Cycling!

Whether new to track cycling or you’ve got some time under your wheels, Boulder Indoor Cycling has a track cycling class sure to add to your skill set. If you’re still trying to decide if track cycling is up your alley, try our Track 101 class (free with your BIC membership). All BIC Track Cycling classes are taught by accomplished cyclists and include professional sponsored athletes and national champions.

Below you’ll find an explanation of the different classes offered for track cycling throughout the year:

Beginner: If you have little to no experience on a road or mountain bike, this is your class. Learn the basics of cycling in a velodrome environment over a 6, 8 or 10-week period (class lengths vary throughout the season).

Intermediate: If you’re a seasoned road cyclist or mountain biker, this is your class. Learn the differences between those multi-geared bikes you’ve been riding and track bikes as well as important handling differences. Progress from basic paceline techniques to more advanced skill sets like hot laps and sprinting. This course will prepare you for your Track Certification, which allows you to ride during Open Riding times at BIC and demonstrates your ability to safely handle your bike on all areas of the track at varying speeds.

Advanced (Certification Required): For those who are accomplished track cyclists at another venue or have completed BIC’s Intermediate class, this is the next step. Work with your coach on more advanced techniques, improving lap times and introductory racing scenarios. Harder workouts, more strategic thinking and a better relationship with your bike!

Expert (Certification Required): After completing BIC’s Advanced class, this class is a workout in and of itself. Coached workouts that focus on mass start techniques for racing and improved lap times, you’ll be adding quality miles to your bike each and every week.

Introduction to Racing (Certification Required): Whether interested in competing on the track cycling circuit of simply curious about what it takes to race, this class will prepare you. Learn proper and safe racing techniques from one of the area’s top local pros. Many types of track racing are explained and practiced in this course: scratch race, points race, team pursuit, Miss-n-Out and more. Registrants must be able to hold their bikes at speed below the red line.
